Shopping for a new baby can be overwhelming when you’re just not sure what you’re going to need. It’s fine to feel that way, but don’t let it get to you. We have some great tips to help you choose the basics you’ll need for your baby, and then you can go from there.

You’ll want to stock up to prepare for your newborn, but there’s no reason to go crazy just yet. Sure, you’ll want an outfit to go home from the hospital, and perhaps a few cute patterns, but for the most part, you’ll be too tired to worry about it.

Being able to grab something soft, organic, and comfortable is the key to making your life easier and making your baby happy.

Pick Up the One-Pieces

One-pieces are so easy. Your baby can wear them night and day. They are perfect starter outfits in simple colors or adorable designs. Start with a few long sleeves and a few short sleeves for the right seasons, and you’ll have the basics covered.

You won’t want to stop snuggling with your little one in these organic bodysuits because they’re incredibly soft and touchable. Choose patterns so they’re an outfit all their own, or match solid colors to a pair of pants.

Choose a Few Pairs of Pants

Nothing turns a bodysuit into an outfit faster and easier than a cute pair of pants. Just slip them on over the one piece and your baby is ready to go out. You can make endless outfits out of a few jumpers and pants.

Pants also help protect your baby’s knees as he begins to crawl and explore. Choose solid colors to complement the colors in the pattern of your one-piece, or match patterned pants to solid one-pieces.

Accessorize

Baby, it's cold outside, and that means it's time to accessorize with booties, caps, and mittens to keep your precious little one warm. While your baby is a newborn, it’s important to keep him warm in every season, so these types of organic accessories come in handy year-round.

Choose from a variety of solid colors so your accessories match everything and your baby can wear them multiple times before they need a wash. Be sure to pick up a few newborn bibs, too, to keep everything clean a bit longer. That makes your new laundry life easier.

Build a Wardrobe with Sets

Once you stock up on the basics, you’re ready to fill out the wardrobe as you feel it’s necessary. Your baby will grow quickly, so wait until he arrives and then be conservative with what you need.

You won’t need a first birthday outfit yet, but you may need one or two Sunday church outfits. Remember that you’ll be tired, so most of the time those cute pants and one-pieces will do the trick, even if you’re leaving the house!

It’s really so much simpler than it sounds. Stocking up on the essentials for your new baby doesn’t have to be hard. Choose organic clothing that’s safer for him and enjoy every minute of your cuddles with the softest baby clothes you can buy.
